Few photos on Facebook confirming a new advert booklet of a load of pubs round Newcastle & Gateshead.

These mostly include the ones on the Q3 which is mentioned as QuayCity Voltra Q3 on 8 of the pubs

Microbus and others are on there. I'll send the screenshot of them below

RE: Go North East Beer by bus advert
Another example of GNE's weird take on priorities...you still can't find a printed timetable a month on from the July butchering of the network but they have spent their time and resources on this.
And before one of the GNE brigade jump on it, absolutely the other operators are no better re printed timetables, lets have a good old race to the bottom...
RE: Go North East Beer by bus advert
I'm not going to go on a full on rant like some have been about this stuff but what's the obsession with alcohol and pubs.

As a user of a bus sometimes, the last thing I want is to be on a bus full of piss heads and nor would most other people. There's pub trails around the Yorkshire area on trains and they're known to be a right pain in the arse with trouble often.

Much rather the effort was focused on things to do with the kids or something positive.

I’m not sure who they are trying to attract with this or why?

I mean I kinda get the spotters who run seemingly run the company and the link to craft beer…

Casual leisure users?

I think we can be too quick to assume everybody knows the bus network inside out, but they really don't. So having quick guides like this is a good way to encourage people to take the bus.

This isn't even a new thing. The PTE used to produce days out by bus type guides and maps, and certainly GNE have done it on and off over the years... think the 'big days out' campaign was the last, aside from the Beamish partnership?

And “QuayCity Voltra Q3”? Dear god.
It's mentioned 8 times on there. Might as well rename it to the

This is the Pub Crawl Voltra Q3

Is it really any worse than Cobalt and Coast, East Gateshead Rider, Red Kite Ranger, or any of the other long route brands

All too long but this is the worst yet. Let’s hope the NSAs don’t say that.

“Gateshead Railway Bridges Quarters”.  Huh

tbf I find Red Kite Ranger, East Durham Explorer, Cobalt & Coast.

QuayCity Voltra Q3 fits in with rare services which names imo don't roll off the tongue.

I've had a good think about this.

Does it tick the previous MD's interests - yes.
Does it tick my interests - yes.
Does it tick the interests of a wider population - not sure.

I'd hope there was more to it than just booze by bus and that there were a range of similar initiatives/leaflets for a range of other hobbies, activities or whatever.
With this being the first.

Go-Ahead Leisure. I don't think it lasted very long.

I think that’s the problem encapsulated. It’s not growing the market. The left bank set who visit these pubs wouldn’t be seen dead on a bus. It’s superfluous.

Do you know that for certain? What is the left bank set? We have used the Q3/A/B a few times recently on the way home from socialising in Micropubs on the Quayside and Ouseburn. Much better and cheaper than the car, and sensibly not drinking and driving! And no, we were not unruly after a couple of drinks.
