Obviously the route number on the left is what is more common on 128x17 rear displays...

The E400s have the 128x17 displays, but they are indeed set to '0'.  However, the 14-plates have just been changed to show the correct screen so hopefully the 57-plates will be seen to next

There's hardly any instances of a branded vehicle being allocated to a service it shouldn't be from run out now; when there has been instances of this occurring, it's been to keep a bus local to the depot after it has just undergone repairs. It's more or less always later in the day that problems occur - a bus breaks down and the only bus available is a branded bus (which had been allocated as a check car), it's better to allocate that than lose mileage. It's finding a chance to swap both buses over later in the day that poses a challenge, more often than not.

To outsiders looking in, allocations have most definitely not improved at Arriva. Unlike Go North East and other Arriva North East depots, I'm fairly sure Blyth have (several times in the past) allocated branded vehicles to the wrong routes from early doors. I understand that every service leaves Blyth more or less on-time during the day, as they use the spare vehicle in the bus station regardless of the vehicle type, to make this so, but it's the wrong run out allocations Arriva's senior management ought to be working on before they get to the wrong allocations during the day. The depots should be in a position to provide reasoning to Arriva's senior management as to why x, y and z allocations have happened, and then leave it to senior management to increase their spare vehicle allocation or improve reliability of the existing fleet by expanding engineering's budget or providing the depot with a more reliable fleet.

The allocation of "MAX X12" branded VDL Pulsar 1415 to every other route at Belmont besides the X12 on a daily basis is clearly a decision at depot management level (or even higher up) given the amount of times it has happened. Why senior management haven't decided to remove the sub-branding for service X12 and leave it as a generic "MAX" spare (which wouldn't be quite as bad as the situation at present), is beyond me. If Belmont requires an extra double decker to "MAX" specification to release 1415 to another depot, it's up to senior management to find it, whether it's an internal asset or an external asset that has to be bought in.

Hit the nail on the head there Dan.  The early inspector has apparently been told that 1415 is not to be used on the X12, but a double decker instead because of capacity issues.  However, (if it weren't for scholars), it would be the best idea to allocate it to 6L board, since it works onto the X12 later in the day.

Four were visible in the yard at Thornton Brothers, North Seaton, presumably being prepared for service and/or repainted. Three include former demonstrator 4700 (YJ59 AZV), and others in-shot include YJ10DTF (new to First Group, and has also seen use with Geldards Coaches, Huddersfield Bus Company and Richard Bros) and YJ11GHA.

Driving past Faverdale this morning and I noticed 2503 was parked in the depot, did it ever move to Durham? It certainly wasn't parked in Faverdale last Saturday.

1435 was on X93 today, predictably on a Redcar based board. 7486 was the other one.

1572 also spent the full day on 63's, despite a depot full of regular vehicles.
1562, 1565 and 1567 were operating the 3/81 cycle in Redcar today. 1567 has also re-appeared on 63's tonight too, witnessed working the 1808 journey from Redcar and will likely still be on there now.

Its almost as if Redcar have been told not to use Temsa's on a Sunday anymore?

I can't understand how 1441-3 cope perfectly fine with Capacity yet 1415 won't.

Do they cope perfectly though? We know that Stockton cant facilitate double deckers due to the engineering ramps so they have no choice but to use single deckers.

They don't, bar the first one out of the depot on the morning. That ends up doing one of the last full journeys back from Newcastle, so it's usually fine for Durham towards Middlesbrough. I think it's the 2nd and 3rd ones out the depot that get hit by the Durham peak, especially during term time for the Uni...

Completely off topic but 2804 has been treated to the same repaint as 2803. Looks Stupid if you ask me.

As for the X12 I'm only going off the ones I've been on there is usually 3-4 seats spare towards Durham and a few towards Middlesbrough. You could have a seat for each limb between Durham and Newcastle.

It's only temporary and makes them look a bit more presentable until the time comes for them to go for refurbishment (or repaint - I'm not sure how much they'll be getting done)

I could have sworn it never left, it was parked down the bottom end for a little while, then moved back up the top but marked as VOR. Randomly, I saw a Captains tale branded Pulsar heading out of Faverdale this morning, was too far away to get an ID.

1461 feels terrible. I've had it twice now today, and it feels like the engine is being choked when accelerating. A very bumpy ride indeed.

Not yet - still waiting for some to be allocated ex London I think.
There's expected to be around 70-80 double decks released, alongside around 20 single decks also.

I'd be expecting at least 9 DD to replace the Lowlanders (7436-44) - but it depends how many we can get our hands on...

Don't build your hopes up on B7TLs, we could get more Daf DB250s either the last of the DLA class ( Alexander ) or DW class ( Wright body on VDL DB250 chassis due to later build date)
I don't think there any DLP class ( Plaxton ) bodied ones left in London, Maybe 2 or 3 at the most in the London North Division
Shame about the Lowlanders though, I liked them a bit more looking after and they would last at least another 5 years.

I'd be very surprised. They've still a lot of older vehicles than 57-reg in their fleet which would need to go first, given that they're operating within regulation.

Just done a few searches and no 57 Reg or Newer buses will be coming out of London this year           Though I have found something from my own working out................

There should be a few of Arriva London oldest batch of E400s coming out in the next few years, Belive it or not them 57 Reg E400s were part of the same order as 7501-7513
I bet you wish you have the DAFs now!
All DAFs should be out by the end of the year in London.

Yes there's a number of the older DW's going to get kicked out this year I suspect, along with a high number of VLW's. Most of the newer DLAs have been sold off (Holmeswood took a big batch) which would suggest that those that are left will either go for scrap or get sold on, with none to the provinces. 

Don't suppose someone can find out what way Darlington depot services 5A and 7 will be diverting through Newton Aycliffe on Sunday morning as some of the roads on these routes will be closed for the Aycliffe 10K.

Just saw a glimpse of something being taken away from Stockton depots scrap corner, couldn't really tell what it was because it caught me by surprise, but think it will be one of the MPDs

If it's the same as last year then it will be pease way, greenfield way then onto middridge for the 5A and then on to burn lane for the 7 because if I remember rightly it's one side of the road this shut, on the way back it will be burn lane, to tescos right at the roundabout and then behind the courts in aycliffe to reach the town centre
