Was Poundland really lowering the tone of Peterlee, is it even possible to further lower the tone of Peterlee?

Or did Peterlee thought it was too good to have a Poundland like Harrogate (think Harrogate has Poundworld but the point still stands).

it was in the newspapers as there used to be masses of them entering the shop at 3pm onwards and since their couldn't catch all of them and the profits were down, there decided to shut up instead.

Lowering the tone of peterlee Dodgy , you should ask Arriva this Big Grin , years ago Peterlee had all the crap buses, buses were either broken down or never ran, still remember when Arriva had service 215 which was allocated a metrorider and a mpd and usually only one bus ran every 2 hours between Wheatley Hill and Sunderland and when its was late it used to bypass oakerside, so usually the bus round oakerside used to turn up every 3 hours, used to get plenty of free single tickets Tongue , when service 212 ran on an allocated 2 buses, when there used to be a breakdown the bus that was left on only did station town to peterlee and not continue to Sunderland, passengers had to get off and wait for service 213,214.

newer buses only arrived in the East Durham area when Arriva closed down operations in Peterlee.

Just wish GNE expanded a bit more down here.

Few updates on the repaint front...
  • Deptford-based Mercedes Citaro 0530N/Mercedes Citaro 5301 (NK08 CHG) has arrived at Saltmeadows Road for a fresh coat of gold paint.
  • Riverside-based "The Orbit" branded Optare Versa V1110/Optare 8332 (NK11 HJC) has arrived at Saltmeadows Road for a new coat of yellow paint.
  • Riverside-based "The Orbit" branded Optare Versa V1110/Optare 8335 (NK11 HJF) has arrived at Saltmeadows Road for a new coat of yellow paint.
This means that the "The Orbit" has now been eliminated from the fleet. I'd suggest that you get your current "QuayLink" brand photos while you can - just 8313 (NK10 GOC) remains!

Don't know if it is related, but 5369 went past me in Ryhope about 45 minutes ago looking like it had been in a smash, there was no front bumper on and was being driven by an engineer

How about you try it for yourself at some point, I imagine it'll be allocated to the same board (or similar).

So i'm guessing it was the 16:38 from Team Valley?

I'm guessing that you're right, this explains why a while back I saw a Lime renown on the 93, thought It may have had something to do with it being withdrawn but now I'm guessing not.

It wasn't the 16:38, I took the photo at 16:31 whilst waiting for the 16:48 X21, you probably know why...

The 16:38 93 from Team Valley to Gateshead is the first extra peak time journey of the evening according to the allocation thread on here. Of course, things might have changed...

4843 was heading "not in service" down the A167 towards Chester le Street around 17:55, would that be from the 1650 X21 working?

Cheeers

The moment you have all been waiting for... It's my review of my ride on Enviro 400 MMC 9109. I rode it from Newcastle - Bishop Auckland so got to sample it on the whole route.

I found this bus to be a fairly smooth ride, it didn't seem as juddery as the E400's Arriva use on the 7 that I am used to. I found the bus performed okay in terms of performance however going down the A1(M) it has to be said it didn't feel that fast, don't get me wrong it wasn't slow but it didn't feel like it was thundering down here, it's possible that it could have maybe gone faster and this may have just been the speed the driver chose to drive down the A1(M). Didn't get much experience of it on hills as there actually isn't that many and when we did go up them we had roadworks and traffic so that slowed us down a bit. Overall I thought the performance was okay.

In regards to the interior I thought the seats were extremely comfortable, even the one at the front which is a sort of a bench was pretty comfortable. Wasn't sure about the heating / aircon, if you were sat on the front seat on the drivers side upstairs the aircon would give you a cool head. Unlike some Enviro 400's there was no rattling or anything like that.

Overall I quite enjoyed my ride on this and think they would do alright if they were bought for this service... although we all know that the X21 is getting the Red Arrows B9s

The enviro was very nice to drive.... all drivers very impressed with the interior of the bus.. especially the tables upstairs .

Next up the Streetdecker which should be at Crook by the end of the week.

E400 will be on the 06:47 from Bishop in the morning  Tongue

Assuming things are nice and simple and there aren't any replacements, the departures from Bishop Auckland are as follows:
0647, 1004, 1304, 1608

Similarly from Newcastle:
0835, 1135, 1445, 1740.

There's no running off onto X46s with this board - so nice and simple to work out where it will be for photos!

No, I did the 1405 Newcastle - Bishop Auckland journey. I've seen your photo and I am defiantly not in it.

I am now having a look to see if I am in anyone's photos, not found any yet but I should be in a fair few photos. I got papped at: Eldon Square, Gateshead Town Hall, Gateshead Interchange, three young lads got photos in Chester and somewhere in Spennymoor, also was a few other people taking photos in Bishop Auckland when I was there.
