Stagecoach North East: Rare & Odd Workings - April 2016

RE: Stagecoach North East: Rare & Odd Workings - April 2016
So a withdrawn dart could go to Slatyford to allow an ALX300 to transfer to Walkergate, or we could get an ALX400 in return from Stockton with DDA mods for extra capacity on the 18

I still need to ride one, if they went on the 18 as a capacity booster which is necessary especially when my school comes out at three and everyone catches the 15:24 18 from South Gosforth Roundabout, this journey should have an E400 as my school has the scholars service 18A on a morning.

22014 was definitely at Walkergate as I've saw it a few times on the 22.

I am very aware of 22014 being at Walkergate, the only route allocated them though is now the 18 and that normally has 55 Reg ALX300s

It is, I can verify having seen it when having a teacher training day, the bus starts at Byker metro, another Byker based bus is LK03 NJE, I don't know about a third having seen S4 STX once on my scholars I could see evidence of this being Byker based

(06 Apr 2016, 12:27 am)Tom wrote Yeah and there doesn't seem to be enough 22 branded E400s as most of the ones I've had/saw have been unbranded - strange if they didn't brand enough for the PVR!

It was only ever intended in the first place to brand 8 vehicles for service 22, to give more flexibility of double deck allocation. The branding of the 8 vehicles is now complete viz 19385/86/87/89, 19430-19433. There are four (Graphic) variants of the 22 branding, each variant carried by two vehicles.

In addition, up to 18 Enviro 400s from the existing fleet are in the process of being retro-fitted with FREE WiFi, 8 of those vehicles of which are branded for the 22 as recorded above.

Just regarding upgrades to Slatyford routes, the 10, 11, 30, 31, X47, X87 and X88 could all really do with E400s. I wouldn't recommend just replacing the MANs with long length E200s. The X77/78/79 has somewhat complicated interworking diagrams with the X82/87/88 so you couldn't really upgrade the Newbiggin Hall expresses without also upgrading the others. The 6 and 7 could also do with an upgrade in capacity. The 55 and 06 reg MANs would be ideal for this.

Nothing unusual seen in Stockton/M'bro yesterday - only one decker out despite it being the school holidays which was disappointing. 17027 on the 13.
