Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2017

RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - April 2017
Is there any estimation as to when 6145 will be reregistered? Knowing there will probably be a reason for doing so, I am quite surprised it hasn't been done yet given that 6144 and 6146 both have.

5275 and 5279 likely to be the first two Mercedes Citaros to receive the new "Blaydon Racer" branding, but both are VOR at the moment (5275 radiator issue, 5279 PSV). Unsure when 5275 will be back on the road, but 5279 should be back on the road by Friday afternoon.

The others all pencilled in to be branded up next week - 5282 should be done at Saltmeadows Road as soon as it returns from Bus & Coach World.

I'm lead to believe 5241 is now the 6th Omnicity to be off-road now due to a water leak - quite a substantial one too

5238 and 5253 were the only ones off the road this morning - the latter for PSV so will be back out in service again tomorrow afternoon.

Were some off later on? I'd thought more than two would have been off given I've passed a majority of them today. Also saw one or two in the depot at 4 but didnt check IDs.

5241 is the only Stanley OmniCity which was removed from service today, due to overheating (which will be related to that water leak!)

5241 should have been replaced by 5240.

5240 operated the 15:25 X30 from Stanley, 5234 operated the 15:54 X30 and 5235 operated the 14:30 X31.

With the new streetlites looking to go on the 2/2A and the 36 to be transferred to Chester with versa allocation, does this mean Deptford will become versa free?

I have to agree, once the 6 Versa's move from Chester, they'll enough for the 2/2A, as they would need 8 but with 8328 in Go North East, it looks like it'll leave Deptford for either Riverside or Chester.

Wonder if the frequency will be increased back to every 20 minutes (10 combined), when the new Streetlites arrive, that means the 61 for example could gain 5, leaving 2 spares. (just speculation) -

The 9 could gain 6 Versa's + the spare - gaining Simplicity brand

Citaro's from the 9 to replace the last 3 B10's in the fleet + 1 Scania.

So:

2/2A - Silver Arrow
9 - Simplicity
61 - Not thought of a name yet.

Wonder if the other Streetlites will be for the 35?

Unless the 35 will also be getting Versas with a joint brand for the 35/36, in which case I reckon they are for the Blue Arrow.

Could be but 8324 is in Go North East, suggesting this could become a spare for a different route. (not the 61, Dan confirmed that a while back), they'll only be 7 left so not enough for the Blue Arrow, as the PVR is 8)

------------

Going by your suggestion of the 35:

8 Streetlites for the 35
8 for the 2/2A

2 spares

-----------

Cascades:

Citaro's

5 Citaro's to the 61
2 to the 9
1 spare

6 Citaro's from the 36 to Hexham for the X84/X85, Tynedale Links and a spare.

Scania's:

5229-5233 to ???

5210 replaces a old Scania in the fleet

Versa's

7 Simplicity Versa's to Chester, 5 for the Waggonway - 2 spares - means Chester are on the way to "Depot standardisation", replaces the last 3 B10's and some of the older Scania's.

What I thought was...

9? Streetlites for the Simplicity 2/2A - then the 13 Simplicity Versas and 8328 and replace the 15 See it do it Citaros (I think there is one spare anyway?) and allocated to the 35 and 36. (can't see them having a mixed brand/allocation)

Then I agree that 2 Citaros will go on the 9 (5326 and 5327), which leaves 12 spare. Then I think 12 will be transferred to Percy Main for both the Blue Arrow and 19 - there would be no spare for this but 5254 would provide cover, along with some Solars which would still remain.

4978-82 would then transfer to Deptford for the 61, and the Blue Arrow Solars to Riverside for the 67/69 and to replace older Solars.

If there are 8? other Streetlites due then I am not sure what these would be for.

Yes, I like the idea of the same brand on a different base for a similar service (like the 57 and 58 at Riverside) but I do think that, where possible, they should be the same vehicle type. Indeed I was hoping that the 18 Streetlites would be for the 57 & 58 but the confirmed Citaro rearrangements at Riverside removes any possibility of this happening.

Yeah that is what I had thought would happen too - would have been the perfect number too.

Sorry Tom, i misread your reply.

I do agree on that, same brands should have the same allocation but the 33/39 and the 238 will all have the same brand, but on Solo's and Scania's.

In someway it works with the 57/58.

No need to apologise I wasn't very clear Smile

Will be interesting to see what happens anyway, and what the brand will be.

Looks really smart, I do like this updated look of the Blaydon Racer branding and as Ive said before The Blaydon Racer branding is certainly more appropriate to the 12/12a as it's more relevant to route it serves.

I believe 4927 has gained one too.

4927 has had one for a while I think. Seen it a bunch of times when it was still at Chester-le-Street.
