Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2

(19 Apr 2017, 9:03 pm)BJ10VUS wrote I suppose with brands like "Angel", "Quaylink" and "Castles Express" being based around landmarks and places, maybe the 49 could be the "Dunston Rocket"?

Tynedale Express X84 could have something to do with Wylam, being the birthplace of George Stephenson? Indeed the museum is signposted from the main bus stop!
Yet another reason to split up the brand from the X85 and X84. The latter of which isn't much of an express outside of Heddon.

The Chronicle has played a blinder again - 'warning' passengers that the May changes take effect on Friday....

X84 and X85 alternate throughout the day - necessary to maintain hourly timing (X85 route takes 45 minutes, X84 60 minutes).

The X84 evolved from the 684 which ran through Anick and then Horsley.
Correction:- 687 to Horsley; 684 to Ovington and Newcastle;
687 now runs only to Corbridge.

The X85 was introduced to compete with the (then unreliable) Arriva 685 - breakdowns and cancellations were frequent due to old coach stock.
To be fair to Arriva their 685 runs to and from Carlisle, so there is more possibility for delays on the single carriageway A69 west of Hexham.

I wonder if the half hourly service is going ahead for a evening and Sunday?

Stagecoach - Sunderland to South Hylton

Go North East - South Hylton to Docks

As i thought Stagecoach decided to run it commercially between Sunderland and South Hylton but now that new 8 has appeared however Go North East did win the contract but this was sent to VOSA on the 13th April.

RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Can somebody actually confirm whether or not service 704 will be running after the 21st May? The VOSA registration says it has been cancelled, the new 30 timetable doesn't have any times for the 704 on it yet the GNE website says that it will now depart Stanley at 41 minutes past the hour.
RE: Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Closure of Humber Hill from tomorrow (02/05) for 5 days due to resurfacing works. Service V7 will be diverted but no news of this on the Go North East website - the stop on Wear Road heading back up to Stanley will be missed with passengers either walking down to Avon Road for the 16 or just walking into Stanley.

Surprised they're resurfacing there when there's the entirity of dipton and burnopfield. I guess they've got to be seen doing work regardless of size.

I agree, for example, the 07:26 Q3 from Great Park Sage has been getting busier recently, it used to arrive at Regent Centre at 07:41, then 07:40 and now 07:38. Yesterday it arrived at 07:46, this is common!

This will be the summer timetable where it'll drop to every 30 minutes, serve Roker and run on Sundays.

From Monday 15 to Friday 19 May, service X25 will be diverted between Wrekenton and Portobello due to a closure at Eighton Banks.

The service will divert via Long Bank, A1 on-slip, A1, A1 off-slip and Mill House roundabout, with Newcastle bound services diverting from Portobello onto A1, Eighton Lodge roundabout and Long Bank to Wrekenton.

A Shuttle Bus will run between Wrekenton Bus Link and Mill House Roundabout connecting with the diverted X25 service.

Probably just DNS servers taking their time, if it's discriminative.

Maybe I really was banned from public transport by that silly Nexus man![Image: 571410b47910ccd05a5307ac027ce5bf.jpg]

**Nerd content incoming**

I did a bit of digging. It's an issue with Amazon AWS storage servers (for which the domain (assets.goaheadbus.com) uses), where the server does not accept the requests for certain clients. Normally this is a strict process that prevents even error-message formatting from showing to the affected devices. I'd say it's accidental and probably will become working, effective from whenever your DNS (defaultly provided by your service provider) decides to refresh the content cache. Could be minutes or hours. It's already working on my mobile on 4G, so who knows!

Post from Order Predictions thread...

(15 May 2017, 7:18 pm)S813 FVK wrote I would say 8319 - 8324 for the 36 with 8325 as its spare. 8306 repainted and branded for S1 replacing 8266 and 8307/8/9/26/7/8 also to Riverside in corporate livery for 67/69 (when not required on Quaylink).

I am quite surprised it hasn't already made its way onto this forum given we've got several Riverside drivers on here and it has been posted elsewhere, but it was recently confirmed to them that services S1 and X66 will be merged into one service in the near future. The registration should be appearing very shortly, probably with a few more...

So you may have to come up with alternative plans for 8306...  Rolleyes

So does that mean that the S1 will no longer be contracted out by the Metrocentre themselves?

Going by that information, wonder if an extra Streetlite is on order for the X66, as i would imagine the PVR will increase?

Probably, although I think they may just be able to get away with 4 but it wouldn't be ideal.

The current frequency is every 8 minutes (2 hours to get back to an on-the-hour departure) so I would imagine every other journey coming into the Metrocentre would do the S1 loop providing they are planning to keep the 15 minute frequency which is likely.

But there is also the increase to the PVR at certain times, regardless of any delays to the service when it scoots around past Asda or Ikea.
A delay to the S1 has far fewer implications than a delay to the X66.

The S1 is rather unique in it's secret passageways around the Metrocentre, the only place to get traffic is around the back of Asda, and there's seldom any traffic away from peak time.

The S1 can be stuck in the green car park by Marks and Spencer during busy holiday periods esp Christmas for 40 mins at a time in the past
Go North East: Upcoming Service Changes v2
Didn't GNE did the same thing years ago and had to make it a stand along service again due to congestion in the metro centre car parks , and had to turn the X66 round at metro centre bus station coming in from Gateshead to stop all the X66 buses stuck in traffic in the car parks.
