(20 May 2017, 5:25 am)Dan wrote Initially withdrawn having sustained defects uneconomical to repair, there may have been a change of plan subject to the availability of a part from a Trident recently withdrawn for scrap.

This is because there will be a large number of Park and Ride / shuttle services in operation again this summer - so any double-decks which can be retained, will be, for now.

Wonder what the shuttles and park and rides could entail.
I know percy main do the port of tyne stuff for cruise ships (single decks) and the 327 services
Great north run most likely GNE
Wonder what else could be thrown into it

Sunderland Airshow?

With the new ticket machines are they meant to update the boarding stage automatically or does the driver do it? Just they seem to have random points no where near the boarding stage - unless the driver hasn't updated it

Kynren and Sunderland Airshow.  Great North Run is on Sunday in September, so plenty of school deckers available.

The new machines will auto update for all services, eventually, but I have been told that each service needs to done and tested individually. Quaylink services had auto update from installation, but not sure if it still does.

Has it been confirmed that the TEN, X9/X10 are getting new buses?

Although, i think we all know that the X9/X10 are likely to get new buses.

Honestly i think it'll be the Angel, X9/X10 and Red Arrows (they currently have 5 and 6 year old B9's) which will get new deckers but that's for a new thread!

So that leaves 5277, 5322 and 5328 without one !

Their height.
X30 has a low bridge of 14"3 in Dunston, although it's a tad shorter in reality.

Sometimes (quite rare), but a full sized decker ended up on and was sent left before Aldi onto the A1114 some way down the road, before continuing its normal route. It adds a lot of time onto it, and it sorta stops being anything like an express.

Re-9098.

I'm guessing any order for the 21 would be minus tables and perhaps with upper saloon handrails? It's a lovely vehicle, the rain lashing down on its skylight is incredibly relaxing. Though I've seen that Alexander Dennis promo video about 40 times now.
Wistfully stuck in the 90s

I've been under that bridge at Dunston on a Gemini before a couple of years back.

The tridents had to crawl under it, I remember when 3873 was on it. You're not wrong to say it does happen, but if you were to take a B9TL (14"6 I believe..) you'd be short of a roof.

Larger vehicles shouldn't be allocated at all, but the drivers normally are diverted as they value their jobs at the company/license and won't risk it.

Any fleet movements due tomorrow because of service changes, if yes, whats planned to move?
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2017
Geminis are around 14ft 4in.

But when the 301 went through Dunston many many many years ago, they used Olympians and Tridents on the service and they passed under the bridge at normal speed. The only buses they had to crawl under the bridge with were the 14ft 6in Atlantean, but they still got through just save for any unlucky pigeon that would happen to get startled and get squashed between bridge and bus.

Mind had to admit I did get a fright on the Gemini when I did hear a bang which turned out to be a tree branch that the bus hit right before the bridge.

6008 had some problems with its destinations yesterday. It couldnt get 42A on fkr some reason. Then heard drivers say that the only buses with it on are the solos and a few of the singles only. Surely theys should all have them on in case of a breakdown and only available bus

Draw your own conclusions.
Going off the post and comments, it broke down, was there a while and was then hit from behind.

How accurate those comments are, is another thing.

(20 May 2017, 9:15 pm)Michael wrote Any fleet movements due tomorrow because of service changes, if yes, whats planned to move?

There's not really many fleet movements planned, just changes to the allocations at each depot mainly. Most of the changes which were planned were to allow the withdrawal of further double-decks from the fleet, but as noted yesterday, any of these which can be retained over the summer, will be.

5237 is still pending transfer to Stanley having been replaced at Riverside following the return of the refurbished Merc Citaros for the 12/12A. 6124 is currently VOR - once repairs are completed, this will be repainted black and branded for Toonlink. So until both of these buses are in service at Stanley, the Toon Link group of services may see the frequent allocation of fleet liveried OmniCitys/OmniDekkas.

713 has now returned to Stanley following loan to Chester-le-Street - it, and the others, are all pencilled in to receive Metrocentre Mini branding today. 648 is due to be repainted into fleet livery shortly - this and 649 will be the spare buses for the minibus network at Stanley. No minibuses scheduled to be out in service on a Sunday anymore, which is another reason why the Next Stop Announcement kits could be removed from the "Venture" minibuses.

What are the revised Sunday allocations for Stanley now?

I imagine what some buses do after operating scholars will have changed too (823 in particular - which went onto a V8)

I would imagine mostly Red Kite and Durham Diamond Streetlites as they're euro 5 and can allow Go North East to get that payment (can't remember its name).

Whats allocated to the 8 (South Hylton to Docks) today?

Go North East are operating Rail Replacement services on behalf of Northern today, between Newcastle and Hartlepool.

6084 and 6307 are two of the buses being used.
