Stagecoach North East: Rare & Odd Workings - December 2013

Stagecoach North East: Rare & Odd Workings - December 2013

RE: Stagecoach North East: Rare and odd workings
27725 NK11 BFM was on the X34 today.

There must be a problem with some of the Shields Enviro 400's, since there is at least one Enviro 300 or ALX300 present on the X34 on a near daily basis.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Rare and odd workings
MAN AlX300 22022 was on the X34 this morning, before being replaced by Enviro 300 27728 at around 11AM.

That's the booked working - all weekday extra 36s are double deckers as they work off/onto schools.

I wonder if this vehicle has been re-activated at South Shields as a reserve vehicle to replace 21156 (R256KRG), which was in reserve at South Shields & has now moved to Stockton. Kind Regards Richard

Glad to see her resurrected! As my favourite vehicle in the Stagecoach North East fleet, it was always a shame to see her withdrawn.
I had hoped a preservationist would get involved when she was withdrawn, given that 33101 represents the very first of the easy access buses to be introduced by Stagecoach in Sunderland in late 1997/early 1998.
Despite being the eldest, I'd definitely say she was one of the better ALX200s.

Certainly one to keep an eye on. Wouldn't mind a photo of this myself.

If I catch up with it, I will post timings and hopefully you will be free to catch up with it too!
RE: Stagecoach North East: Rare and odd workings
Even though 21156 was a reserve vehicle, like Richard I feel as though 33101 may have been a replacement for it. 33492 is also still at South Shields.

I remember her going up fawcett street brand new as 1101 original fleet number. What's the history of this vehicle

New to Sunderland I think (don't know about when new as I would have been 2 years old at the time Wink ). Seen some photos of her on Teeside around 2007, think she came to South Shields around 2009 when the Enviro 300's arrived at Stockton, then moved to Sunderland in 2011?

The others can correct me as my knowledge of the ALX200s in latter years is not the greatest.

New to Sunderland, moved to South Shields early in its life then onto Byker before arriving at Stockton with 33102/825/6/8 in 2003. All apart from 33102/826 moved to South Shields in Autumn 2009 (33102 moved to Hartlepool in 2003/4 while 33826 had moved to Sunderland a few months earlier). 33101 moved to Sunderland in 2011 I believe.
RE: Stagecoach North East: Rare and odd workings
Despite being an E300 down, Stockton still can't help allocating one off-route - 36-branded 24101 on xx32 35 from Stockton.

Digging out some Old Fleet Allocation Cards & Fleet Lists (though with some gaps), 33101 was Brand New to Busways in Late October 1997, though was first registered with the DVLA on 1 November 1997.

Certainly by September 2001 it was in use at South Shields.
It moved to Stockton Depot in August 2003 where it remained until September 2009, where as Tony has already indicated was replaced by the 241xx vehicles.

Very Shortly afterwards it was moved back to South Shields in September 2009 as a Reserve/Spare vehicle, entering full service around November 2009.

In June 2010, it was placed in Reserve at South Shields as a Spare Vehicle, so still being used as required.

In June 2011, it was moved from South Shields (Reserve) to Sunderland (Reserve), again being used as an active spare vehicle as & when required.

In September 2012, it then moved from Sunderland (Reserve) to Sunderland (into full service), where it remained until October 2013, when it was again withdrawn, this time for Disposal, following the arrival of the New Enviro 200s.

I think everyone knows the rest. It looks like it has now been re-activated & gone to South Shields as a Spare Vehicle replacing 21156, which has in turn now moved to Stockton to replace 21104 ?. I trust & hope that helps, the 33101 enthusiasts. It has certainly lasted well just recently celebrating its 16th Birthday (Just like Dan himself).

Just quickly looking on the DVLA website, 33101 has been re-taxed for a further year until 1 December 2014. Kind regards Richard

1101 was the first low floor bus at South Shields, working one journey per hour on the 18. 1129-33 arrived (alias 33825-9, the ex-Oxford Dart SLFs) to convert the remaining 18/18A workings to low floor, and a little later 1102 came as a spare.

I think I should just clarify for the younger members of the forum that initially the R1xxKRG Darts were numbered 1101 etc. from New, before being re-numbered into the 5 digit Fleet numbering system in 2003, where they all gained 33 prefixes i.e 1101 R101KRG became 33101 etc. Regards Richard

I sometimes forget that I'm twice the age of most of the contributors to this forum, and the mods! Thanks for the clarification.
