Ah that's good news!, with the collapse of Wrightbus (at the time they were deciding), it seemed likely they would of been ADL anyway.

Still on for a May delivery?

Martijn Gilbert put a pic of one of the ex Volvo demo buses after a refurbish and one of the questions someone post was...

Is this going to be allocated to the X21 or X30?

TBC has plans have changed following the delays to the new Wright’s fleet.

Wonder if this means most or all of the ex Yorkshire buses will be allocated to the X21 after the 26th due to the lack of extra Streetdecks untill they arrive.... (hoping extras have been added to the original order for the X21)

I’m sure I saw somewhere that the ex demo in black xlines will be based at riverside for spare for X9/X10

It would make sense though for them to go on the X21 for now, Chester need those buses more until their Streetdecks are delivered.

It would actually make sense, then they'll have most, if not all of the features the Streetdecks have anyway.

Wonder if they'll drop the Streetdecks from the X5/X15 and put them on the X21 instead?, with the Red Arrow B9's going on the X5/X15 instead (but refurbished)

Will the Newcastle-Bishop and the Newcastle-Durham of the X21 interwork or will they stay separate like the X21 and current 21 services?
If so, I wonder if they'll prioritise having the StreetDecks on the Newcastle-Bishop runs

(10 Jan 2020, 10:41 am)JP6004 wrote Excellent, no doubt 5485 be transferring to Deptford this weekend?

We are not well equipped for dual door (or tri-door), also i believe there was little difference on boarding times between single and dual doors on the 21 when the vykings were allocated. I really hope we never get London spec, they are designed for city running, not ideal for the type of services that operate up here!

A few bus stops may need street furniture moved, many wouldn’t.

Living and working in the Newcastle Gateshead urban core and travelling at peak times I’d certainly see a benefit from centre exits doors. Several of the journeys I make have standing room only. Having centre exits doors not only would make for more standing room & a more spacious open feel to the lower saloon, but obviously allows for easier alighting too - and in turn reduced dwell times as people boarding wouldn’t have to wait at all for those alighting to get off.

Newcastle/Gateshead is a city/metropolitan area so not sure why you say London’s buses being designed for city running would be unsuitable here?
I wasn’t implying all buses be dual door. Obviously express/limited stopping services would be better suited to having single door buses so they had an extra 2-4 seats, however many local stopping city type services (not just GNE’s) could benefit from dual door buses.

The 02 and 05 might run as one, same as the 32 and 35?

So X21 - Arrives at Durham at 02, continues on to the 05 one, and the 32 one to 35 one?

The only time that buses that have dual doors up here ever get used is when they being used on metro replacements. Buses most of the time don't get busy enough to warrant dual doors

Yeah it’s rather annoying drivers don’t open them.
In your experience you may not think they’re busy enough - as I mentioned in my experience some of the services I use certainly are.
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2020
When I was a driver, and we had the ex Oxford Volvo B10BLE/Wright Renown dual door buses on the Service 49, we were instructed to use the middle door whenever possible, especially at the Metrocentre and Gateshead Metro, or we would face disciplinary proceedings, which were enforced by the CCTV

Hmm that is interesting. I’m guessing that’s not the case anymore. Sad
RE: Go North East: Latest News & Discussion - January 2020
i used the 57 quite abit when it had the dual door buses and I never saw the centre doors used once

I kind of like that livery for some reason. X1 will be red, I guess X84/X85 will be orange, we currently have purple, blue and green versions of the livery and the black/grey spares livers. What else is going X-lines? X88 just going to use spares livery?

I remember having the 3 door Citato bendys on the 58, the amount of times I've stood at the middle or back doors and they've never used and ended up at the next stop.

I would say the X88 will stay corp as it seems pointless branding buses for a route that runs only on weekends and bank holidays.

He ties himself to the company in his bio so I think we can assign a decent amount of credibility to it, paired up with the conversion of Lothian, EY and Reading E400s in the last couple of years or so.

Presumably the cost of converting is cheaper than battery renewal?

I would presume that they would be Xlines as they use red arrow B9 or B7 atm on a sunday

Most people don't want to stand. Many people can't.

Now confirmed properly (though branded as a 'trial' for now), although it seems the OP has been a bit naughty in tweeting it in the first place!
