I wouldn't have thought any need to replace them - at the end of June Go North East said they were running over 60 extra buses (school dupe, covering Arriva etc.) which they won't be doing in September. So at least 60 surplus buses, plus any that become surplus with the service changes.

Probably for the 311,it was rumored the 311 was becoming SD operated

I'm guessing it's more to get the deckers off the 41/42/42A. There seems to be a few Solos off the road lately and they lost a few Omnicities last week to Riverside which means the Solos have to go onto the 19

The 311 is not becoming single deck atm as since the 25th July changes the 311 has started re-interworking with the 309 and 310 using Cobalt deckers. The 311 single deck allocation was (or was supposed to be) back in the height of lockdown when passenger numbers were significantly reduced and when the 309/310/311 were all standalone. Whether it could be (re)introduced with the September changes remains to be seen
RE: Fleet Changes
Wasn't the 19 meant to be LB anyway because of lockdown.

Now we are out of it. Wonder if these changes in September mean a move of solos to Percy Main for the loss of the Scania CN230UB OmniCity on the 19

Weren't some of the Omni's taken off the 19 to enable them to be used on Port of Tyne shuttles or something? Don't know if that's still the case?

Wouldn't be surprised if some Solo's transfer to Percy Main freed up from other depots in the upcoming round of service changes as seems like some of the stuff like Venture networks could be getting reduced minibus requirements.

Not too sure on the ferry shuttles if I had to be honest just know a few got transferred last week can't remember the fleet off the top of my head but the 07 plate was one of them.

Yeah wouldn't be surprised myself the one which is operating the H2 should become free aswell. Guess it depends what's happening in Peterlee though as I've heard the bottom half of the 55 is being split off so if that's using Solos then they might go there instead. Heard a rumour of the 34 serving Pelton aswell because of the 78 changes guess we'll find out later this week.

I wasn't a fan of them to start with, but I'm 100% down with the cringe now!

Having thought about it, I think it's an absolutely fantastic idea from a marketing perspective.

Imagine pulling up behind that in your car, reading it and thinking how bad it is.

I don't know about anyone else, but if I see something like that, I'm thinking about it all day. And what do you associate with that, catching the bus!

"Gulls & buoys night out. Last bus home after 11pm"

Unless they're planning to run later buses, the last bus through the whole route is 22:16 which definitely isn't after 11pm.

However much you think about it, I'm pretty sure most folk will only use it if it takes them to where they need to go. If it doesn't. They won't.
I can think about SNE using lyrics from a Pet Shop Boys song on one of their routes. Still remember it now. Didn't use it, cos it didn't go where I needed it to go.
The big questions need to be asked about those east end boys and west end girls though...

I remember GNE used to have a promo video on how to use The Key with the song 'I've got the key, I've got the secret' as the backing track, and every time I hear that song all I can think of is tapping my card on the bloody reader

You mean the ones that goes 'we're ready for you to Go North East'?

That one that irritates me because they use a B5 as an Angel for the interior shots, presumably because the Angels at the time had vinyls over the window.

Fun fact, it was actually a family member of mine that made that ad, so I have family and friends that are extras in it.
When they asked me what I thought if it, the first thing I said was I hate the music, they told me the client insisted on using that particular backing track, not sure whether that's true or whether they just didn't want to admit they chose it!

Haha wow. I bet that GNE really insisted on using that song.

3962-64 now at Riverside 3962 has been on 10A/B all day 3964 has only been on the 10A/B since the afternoon and appears to have replaced 3963 which either got pulled off or broke down at Metrocentre on the 10B earlier. Presumably 3965 has joined its sisters.
RE: Fleet Changes
Most of these has been post but 5474 - 5480 are all now at Percy Main - leaves 4 more to be branded. (5470-5473)

5463 - 5469 - left to do

2 are likely to be branded up for the 51/52 to make up the numbers

Leaving rest of the euro 6 Streetlites as spares?
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.
