RE: Branding - Stay or go?
(05 Mar 2023, 6:55 am)morritt89 wrote We are not allowed to wait time at Low Moorsley terminus because the people who live in the houses complain about the buses. We either wait at the stop before heading up or on the opposite side on the way back down. The layover time at Low Moorsley has been significantly reduced also.

There are a few other examples of not being able to wait at terminus points as well. The 516 at the side of South Tyneside Hospital being one, the Langley Park terminus being another (again residents complaining).
20 at pennywell isn't allowed to wait at the terminus outside the care home for that very reason, too. We wait at the stop before - awkward if there's already a bus there, or one turns up, but realistically you're only there 5 mins at most.

Only other one I can think of is the 8 on John Street, if you have a long wait I think it's generally considered a goodpractice to wait at the parking bays just before - although that's more to keep the stops free and I don't think it's a formal rule.

Im surprised there has been no complaints about the 47 when it used to turn around at Blackhall Mill or the 60 tbh, but I don't think either of them would be able to stop anywhere else.

How much was the waiting time at Low Moorsley reduced

The 60 only waits for a few minutes anyway, plus the loop is a little bit out the way. At Moorsley, the stop is in front of houses.
RE: Branding - Stay or go?
Obviously it depends if some busybody moves into a house and starts whinging not realising it's a bus terminus.

The terminus at Low Moorsley has been in use for eons. https://www.flickr.com/photos/gjm-photog...6097357434

Also believe it or not apparently residents at Percy main also complained regarding the noise as did residents on Mile end Rd and Palatine St in South Shields when Shields depot was there.
RE: Branding - Stay or go?
Think its more to do with drivers not turning the engines off while waiting time rather than the bus sitting there, they don't want to be disturbed while watching doctors on a lunch time with an idling bus outside

I was told on work experience Metro often recieve complaints from people who live next to their depot.

I live on a main road, and for many years about 100m from the A1, and the noise doesn't bother me in the slightest!

My mother lives at the back end of an estate overlooking fields, so her's is very quiet. She stayed over at mine and the first night couldn't sleep because of the noise (ambulances, lorries etc.), but on the second night she didn't even notice it!

Would love to see GNE become corporate livery only, though massively unlikely.

GNE has proved in recent times that it doesn't work for them the same way it does elsewhere - plus its less work for Ray Stenning, his work is shameful.

GNE unlikely to become corporate livery only - some routes will always retain branding.

It hasn't worked in recent time due to service reductions, that couldn't have been foreseen at the time most of the buses were branded.

Certainly for now at least, in bids to cut costs, realistically the best thing to do would be to leave the current route brands in place and only repaint branded buses into corporate (or another brand) if PVR decreases occur or fleet members are transferred elsewhere within GNE where the brand currently carried wouldn't suit the new route allocation, example being say if Drifters were to be allocated to say, service 12, only with these in mind, full repaints should occur (or if a fleet member has sustained accident damage).

Just like the 61/61A
3 brands since summer. SaD Blue then SaD Violet (55 cast offs) now East Durham Explorer (65 cast off).

Were the NSAs updated each time or kept as ‘61/61A service to….’?

Surely the latter?
RE: Branding - Stay or go?
Branding should be removed they ruined it by having a crisis and replacing brands which had recognition for the sake of replacing brands and now mean nothing. X Lines in particular as much as some think it's actually good on here (it's not imo).

You don't go to Morrisons and your favourite brand of cereal is one week called Special K, the new week Crunchy K and the month after X Cereal as it's basically what they done.

The screen says Violet 61. Can't remember what it says for the 61A. In both cases, however, the route number isn't announced at all.
RE: Branding - Stay or go?
New updated NSA only announce the service number ( and brand) if it has one at the first departure point
EG .. service 24 at either Park Lane or South Shields. As does the prince bishops 20 from Langley Park and return journey from Burdon Rd , Sunderland. And I believe 61 from Peterlee & 61A both directions.
RE: Branding - Stay or go?
61 definitely had ‘blue’ branded announcements but I’ve not heard the violet announcement, I’m surprised they bothered doing that, as the website never branded it as violet just corporate red until the switch to ED explorer with impending 65 changes.

It did. I've got the announcement recorded

61 Violet was never done only Blue

Really? What good is announcing the service number only when departing the very first stop.
Whole idea of announcing it when departing EVERY stop is to reassure any blind or partially sighted and unfamiliar passengers who’ve just boarded that they are on the right service and heading in the right direction.
