Electric Buses/new orders

RE: Electric Buses/new orders
I don't know whether there's any of the Angel electrics in the North East yet, but there's currently 2 on the way right now. Just passed them on the A1(M) near Catterick.

Appear to be on their own fuel aswell, if anyone is around and wanting photos. Assume they'll be at Riverside at roughly 2pm'ish.

Two arrived yesterday - 6804 and 6811. They are indeed travelling up under their own power - the pair yesterday visited First's Leeds Bramley depot for a top-up charge on their way north, no doubt the same has happened today.

Good to see priority seats marked too on the lower saloon (contrasting headrests visible).

The wing mirrors are temporary apparently, camera mirrors to be fitted later.

Believe the two grey squares next to the mirror arm bear some relevance to that

Oh not the god awful blue interior, I thought we left that after the introduction of XLines.

Could be for 60s maybe, but 20s have just had a livery update in the last 2 years.

Washington(X1) and Riverside (unknown as of now)

Good thing with this is that the X10 can be prioritised if 6377 unavailable, with a suitable B9TL stepping in on the X21.

Hopefully Riverside get a further order for the 10/10A/10B/12 with a few extra spares thrown in too, and that should be Riverside nailed on.

Therefore by default- do we know how many have been delivered so far?- and guess same question reversed- how many are left to still be delivered?

Just a thought but if Consett are getting 6 Ultroliners are these for the X45?
Is the PVR of the 47 6 buses?
I wonder if 6352-55 do end up at Consett then the X45 will be mainly E400s with the X5/15 being in the hands of newer B9s than whats already on?
Also does this mean the X21 will be made up of 6356-62 and the 2 spare new ultroliners (4 for X10), leaving a spare for X21 andv6377 for X10 with 6363 making up the 56 PVR?

IMO, I think it's a bit of a 'political' move the 6x Cummins Ultroliners going to Consett - especially given a lot of the issues last year were highlighted around the Consett area with vehicle reliability.

Whilst 6352-55 have probably had a 'hammering', they'd be in no worse state than some of Arriva's 14/64/15 plate classics which practically did everything out of Ashington.

My predictions given this, I think all the StreetDecks will be split between Deptford / Percy Main, especially given margins could be tight at Percy Main with heavy duty B9TLs being used on the 307/309 - against Arriva's 306/308 if the partnership is ending.

B9TLs:
- 6086-99 - Consett - 16/16A & 47

- 6100-09 - Washington - 14/50 + 1x spare

- 6110-17 - Riverside - X21

- 6043-48 - Various spares

- Older Voyager & ex-GAG B9TLs/E400 withdrawn. Durham Diamond E400s move into backseat role or withdrawn

Daimler StreetDecks:
- 6301-07; 6315-33; 6356-61 - Percy Main - 301 & 307/309 + 3x spares

- 6362-76 - Deptford - 56 + 1x spare

Unsure what's happening with B5TLs 6308-14

E400MMC:
- 6336-55 - Consett - X5/X15; X30s & X70s + 4x spare

Cummins UltroLiners + 6377
- 6377 - Riverside spare
- 6378-83 - Consett - X45 + 1x spare
- 6384-98 - Washington - X1 + 2x spare
- 6399-6402 - Riverside - X10

Whats your obsession with sending the Cobalts to another depot. Nothing has been mentioned about that at all

Well given that GNE are already looking to reduce frequency on Saturdays - one of the other cost savings is fuel / efficiency - especially if margins will be tight given potential competition with Arriva.

Also, is it not better having all the older 16/67 plate StreetDecks based out of one depot where appropriate spares can be stored and greater attention given?

I think the new Voltra livery looks better on the single decks.
The Voltra deckers look old to me compared to the ones wearing Fleet livery.

Because the 1st plan was for Angels to Percy Main and B9s to Riverside.

Not sure if the plans changed now.

Agree, my instant reaction to the decker photo was meh, looks somehow old and cheap - probably not helped by the lower panels being filthy already from the crap on the roads at the minute.

Were the Angels not initially earmarked for the 301 with StreetLites going elsewhere though?

It does make sense with the 307/309 going StreetDeck from an operational cost perspective - and more so that the 307 especially is an 'easy' route mostly pottering around the doors.

Also, if GNE are increasing the Monday-Friday PVR of the 309 to 9 judging by the timetable as 1 or 2 mins layover in Blyth is far from sufficient, they'll need to recover the cost of a 20 minute layover despite running a reduced Saturday timetable.

I don't know why, but personally I'm not that confident that the E400MMC's will be leaving Riverside now.

Now that the new Ultraliners have been sent to Consett which comes across as a last ditch change, I have a feeling those 4 spare and the ones on the X5/X15 might be the X21 allocation instead as it needs something since there's not enough of the 70 Plates for the 56 from Washington alone.

There's also the big question of the B5TL's at Deptford and E200MMC's at Consett/Riverside aswell which are both routeless pretty much atm.
