Spotted these in a leaflet I picked up recently.

The Newcastle one is excellent - I did it last year.  It uses the Aycliffe red Bristol L and had live narration with someone from Newcastle Council who clearly knew their stuff.  The Sunderland one uses one of the NEBPT vehicles but is a full day and I've never sampled that one.

Have you seen this? You may not be getting that TPX after all!
If I had a pound for every time I've heard a TransPennine service has been cancelled in the last month or so, I would have enough to go away somewhere for the night, maybe two at a push. Being kept awake at night wondering when I will receive my Delay Repay claims.

Details of this year's rallies have gone up on the NEBPT website.  Looks like the NE Festival of Transport at Seaburn is defunct, though the Sunderland and District Classic Vehicle Society and NNRG are running a similarly named event in Durham County Hall car park.

There's been an annual classic vehicle rally at County Hall for a while, so it will be interesting to see if they've expanded the scope (we live a 10 minute walk away)
RE: Rallies and events
I think it probably fair to say the chances of any events happening this year are now very slim. Think it will be next summer at the earliest now.

The NNRG are due to have a depot open day at Philadelphia as soon as restrictions are lifted. Also we are hoping to have a event at our depot around the same time with other preserved buses attending. More info will be posed near the time.

Another event ticked off that I had never been to previously or a part of UK I had been to previously either this past weekend was the Isle Of Wight for the Bus Museum's "Rydabus" Event: https://www.flickr.com/photos/adammalark...0333694037

Over the cause of Friday and Saturday I also ventured around The Needles, Yarmouth, Newport and Ryde catching up with the Southern Vectis Fleet including there new Wright Electroliners, whilst also taking an opportunity for a rides on the Wightlink Ferry from Lymington Pier to Yarmouth, SWR Island Line and Hovercraft from Ryde to Southsea.

Should've probably had taken an extra days Annual Leave to allow more to time Rydabus' around the island to the likes of Shankland and Cowes which I did not get an opportunity to visit, there was also other events on this past weekend which included:

Festival of Transport & Cider & Sausages: The Isle of Wight Steam Railway hosted a weekend combining classic vehicles, trains, and a summer cider and sausage festival.

IW Takeover: A massive modified and performance car event based at the County Showground near Northwood. It featured a scenic Military Road drive-by and photoshoot at Whale Chine.

I popped across to Morecambe for the Ribble event - once again very well organised with buses leaving the Stadium every 10 mins or so going to Happy Mount, Heysham Village and Carnforth with a right mix of buses and they were well used with enthusiasts and families alike.

Programmes with timetables inside along with what buses would be operating each journey were available 2 weeks ago at Whitehaven - just goes to show how well prepared and plenty of effort goes into these events from Groups in the North West.

I echo this, turned out to be a pretty good day - click on this photo to be taken to the album of my selection of photos from the day:  Morecambe Vintage Bus Day 2026
RE: Rallies and events
Ive always attended North East events all my life. Only in 2022 did I start to branch out with the first two being Kirkby Stephen & Whitehaven. Made some big changes in 2024 with Lathalmond & Glasgow open weekend then 2025 i thought ill attended more. Did Morecambe & Great Harwood Weekend

Out of the North East events have became my favourite thing now. Way better turn out great selection of shuttle with lots of variations and different buses and a nice selection of models & books on sale plus way bigger events. Even Fife Bus Bundle was amazing this year.

North east events have gone way down for me. 2022 was the peak of rallys one of the best years of the season id agree since covid. Remember Metrocentre being held on the 15th May that year and it was a great turnout

Metrocentre, Durham, Beamish, Whitley Bay, Bishops Auckland, Shildon Rally, Seaburn, Tyne Tees Run 2022

South Shields Running Day. Two Aycliffe Open days & Seaburn & Shildon Rally for father's day (not held by the Aycliffe) 2026

Take me back to 2022
