Arriva North East: Service Suggestions

Arriva North East: Service Suggestions

The first 840 from Whitby doesn't leave until 11:15, meaning a day out in York or Leeds is not really possible.  There's also limited journeys throughout the day and early finishes.

If Arriva used one bus from Whitby, and one from perhaps Selby depot, they could work something that gave an earlier departure and later last bus to/from Whitby.  They could run a similar route or make it a bit quicker, going to York & Leeds or even just York & Selby.

With the popularity of tourist travel to the coast, I'm surprised Arriva haven't considered something like this.

Think you’ve answered your own question there… the passenger flow is primarily towards the coast which Transdev cater for. The section between Whitby & Malton is council supported (possibly just in the winter) suggesting it’s not a goldmine.

Unless it's changed very recently, the 840 is barely commercially viable, as it is. It nearly got pulled a few year back.

RE: Arriva North East: Service Suggestions
As far as im aware there are currently no Arriva's in Sunderland , few ideas.
79-Replace Already existing route X1 to Doxford park but go A19 way and then turn left to go through Seaham way to Doxford.
21-Extended 20 Service across Hylton Grange Interchange up to Boldon ASDA.
X25-Kind of Like X24 but into Washington up into the Team Valley and into Newcastle.
X2- Express-Sunderland East End-Whitburn Rackly Way turning circle but would not run School Morning Times due to the Turning circle being right next to Whitburn Academy.
558A-558 Extended Into Sunderland Stockton Road Or Park Lane Interchange
A19-Follows A19 from Sunderland Park Lane Coach Station-Hartlepool Interchange (runs every hour)
S1-Sunderland Fawcett to Roker Marina.

Thats All

We have the 22 to Durham via the world but I do agree, we do need more Arriva routes in the area.
Ooo Friend, Bus Friend.
