Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings

Joining 8314 & 8324 which are already there.

I'd be worried if an 03 reg Scania Omnidekka returned to service two years after it was withdrawn.
RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings
I think they don't use the B9's on the X10 now as they were fitted with e fans and overheat, well the original GNE ones were anyway, the 59 plate London ones still have original fans, though most of them are limited to 45? I think? so less than the Streetdecks even. Perhaps GNE should have kept original fans on 6071 - 85 if this is the issue as these could have been used more on there. People I know who use the route prefer one of the Angel Streetdecks on there now as they seem less likely to break down than the Enviro 400's, probably as the Streetdecks are not on there every day, though I know some of them are poor as well, but the 20 plate ones are worse I think. That Bee Network B9 was probably a quality ride on there if it is like the best of the 59 plate ones, maybe better

Be careful with mentioning the Ex London stuff on the X10. It might summon someone who wants Consett to give up some of their stuff for the Route  Big Grin

I do think its time for the X10 to get something new that can actually last a good while on the route.
I did see a comment somewhere that Transdev Coastliner might possibly be getting the B8Ls for the 840/843. Seems it could be the better bus on the market for this long distance, fuel consuming routes

Seemed to perform pretty well on the high intensity V1 route in Manchester

Certainly more reliable that 6356 which has failed on the X10 this morning, cancelling the 7am out of Stockton - an Angelic 6328 stepping in later down the route

I was on one, yesterday, and it didn’t half have some welly. I’m sure they’ll be knackered before long, though.

Well maybe moving the problem from one service to another won't help, especially if the X32 & X73 are BSIP funded which would raise eyebrows if reliability went down the pan due to unsuitable vehicles.

I can't see GNE being interested in the B8L, although I can see another 6x E400MMC tagged onto the rumoured 56 order, which would then go to Consett (would make sense for commonality) and free up 6378-83 for the X10 which seem to be appropriately geared.

If that's the case then why not just give the extra E400MMC?? To riverside you have this thing about  consett. Just give it a rest man it rely is repetitive

Well surely it would make sense from a fleet commonality perspective with Consett already having the E400MMC and they'd likely be low height, plus the fact that the Cummins Ultroliners are 7 speed which is more appropriate for the X10 than Voith's standard 4 speed.

Well by your logic it should be

Washington (StreetLites)
Percy Main (B9TLs)
Riverside (StreetDecks)
Consett (E400MMC)
Sunderland (Solos)

Since Consett have MMC you think the rest should go there. So in that case above is the logic we should follow. Maybe this my quite you down cause im not gonna lie i think everyone is sick to death hearing you constantly talking about these mmc or some crap to do with Hadrian Park
RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings
Also the StreetDecks aren't really 7-speed - they're 4-speed with three overdrive gears, which is probably why they're having so many issues.

That's quite interesting to hear.

Not gonna lie but if Volvo could produce a heavyweight decker as solid as the Volvo Olympian coupled with an ADL body, it would definitely sell.

Bi-axile B8TL with option of IShift would be a solid choice.

There genuinely hasn't been a 'good' all rounder decker engine produced since the Cummins L10 & Volvo D10A
RE: Go North East: Rare & Odd Workings
Probably verging off topic but I would guess we will see a ton of BYD and or cheapest bidder investment in the angel network, à la bee network purchases
Wistfully stuck in the 90s
