This makes no sense to me. They’re wanting to improve emissions around Corner House/Cradlewell on the Coast Road so they’re getting 18 new EV’s for the 307/309 to improve it but if you think about it it’s a stupid decision.
What about the 58/60 plates on the Stagecoach 37/38?
What about the 58/61 plates on the Arriva 306/308?
They’re replacing 63 plates on 307/309 so they’re replacing newer older buses instead of the much older ones. At least make it make sense if you’re going to waste more money

Yeah the fleet on the 37/38 is getting older year by year, not just because the buses are aging, but newer buses are being replaced with older ones. Walkergate lost the 11 plate Hybrids, 65 plate Enviro 300s and 16 plate Enviro 400's, and now loads of 58 plates on there. Don't think Stagecoach would get electric buses for those routes though, maybe they would at Slatyford to replace the 16 plates there and those would come across to Walkergate

The majority of the 37/38 are usually MMCs yes there a few E300s and E400s but these aren’t used on evenings or Sundays.

I don't know whether it's Stagecoach refusing funding but imo the Walkergate routes should be top priority.
The fact that West Road, objectively the busiest corridor in the North East doesn't have a single electric bus while it feels like every bus on the Great North Road is, is just ridiculous imo.
The 37/38/39/40/62/63 are the sort of routes which are prime for them, high frequent routes which are fully in urban areas which trundle along at 5 mph most the day.
