Arriva North East: Latest News & Discussion - May 2013

I'm pretty sure it was on the pits at Durham last night, was thinking I hadn't seen it for a while.
RE: Arriva North East
For reasons known only to management, from the start of the Summer timetable on the X93/93 from Sunday, the single decker allocation will now be Temsa Avenue! The currently branded OmniCity are being debranded and repainted for use on the 5.

Interesting..! Though I must admit I'm glad to hear it. I've never been a fan of the Omnicities... Ear ache is inevitable after being on one for a while!
I've not actually had a ride of a Temsa Avenue before though, so hopefully they're not worse...!

Thanks for the info, Tony. Smile

Trust me, this is bad news - the Temsas may have the power but their seats are awful! I'd rather have the now-withdrawn 1757 and its Urban90 seats to Scarborough than suffer a Temsa!

Oh god, don't say that!
What's the capacity like on them? I've been on a Omni before and it's had standees to the front (don't know if that's regular with the 93/X93s?), and that was horrid all the way to Whitby nevermind Scarborough... If the Temsas have a higher seating capacity, I'd take uncomfortable seat over no seat.

Compared to the OmniCitys, Temsas seat 2 more but will still end up with standees. I've been on a Prestige before with a standing load from Whitby to Middlesbrough (and I had to suffer standing all the way) that seats the same as an OmniCity. Hence the need for Deckers on the busiest workings.

RE: Arriva North East
On that note, I'm assuming there are specific times where the E400s are used ('the busiest workings')... Do you have a list of those times?

The 0855, 0955, 1025 and 1225 from Middlesbrough were regular E400s workings during the Easter period of the peak timetable operation. The 0925 was the single decker Whitby working while the 0825 and 0955 are the Redcar workings so those 3 workings will likely turn up Temsas.

The first 4 of the latest Pulsars (1506-11) have been spotted at Heysham today (Photos @ Gregg Collins)

NK13 FJO
NK13 FJU
NK13 FJV
NK13 FJX

As I understand, there is a change to the vehicle displacement. Darlington are now losing 6 OmniCitys to Redcar rather than the originally intended 7 Pulsars to Stockton. Instead, Stockton will now be gaining 6 of Redcar's Pulsars.
RE: Arriva North East
Stocktons loan bus this weekend is ALX200 Dart 1101 (W461XKX) - I've had a look on it and got some photos, I can confirm they are 28 seaters and they're looking very smart and they still smell of paint inside Smile

They've split it off from the 21 registration to make things easier in the future when submitting registrations electronically, I'm told! There is a route change in the Stockton area from July.
