I saw it for the first time in ages the other day too.
Assume it's had a problem or two.

Sure I saw a mention on a friends' facebook the other day that it had been off for a good 6 months.

RE: Tyne and Wear Metro
4045 has been undergoing an 'D' exam which as the poster above rightly say is where the unit is split into two and everything is basically checked out.

Of course no surprises that yet more false information is being posted onto the net by the guy who did the youtube video...

It seems illogical to do that if it means the unit being out of service so long? especially when it would be stripped down for a refurbishment anyway? unless I'm missing something.

It was originally due to be back in service at the end of april early may and something delayed it,the bloke who posts the videos is a bit of an idiot anyway, has no up to date videos and when you ask him a question he ignores you, he just posted a video of 4060 going for refurbishment, that was months ago, theres one of 4014 coupled to 4080,4080 i think is currently paired with 4067,and i dont know what 4014 is coupled to

Pray tell how posting older videos makes you an idiot? I am still uploading pictures to flickr from December/January. Some people have more time on their hands than others.

Well as he isn't on the forum to defend himself, I will... Having met the lad in question on many occasions, he certainly doesn't strike me as being rude or an idiot. If you have a different experience then that's fine but please don't spread unqualified comments on forums where people may be unable to respond.

Unacceptable. Get him signed up. Tongue

I quite often follow his YouTube posts, and he posts some really good heavy rail stuff, not just Metro. We could do with more rail enthusiasts for the "Other Forms of Transport" parts. Smile

I've never heard them before in person, but the video is about a month old, which implies that they've been on at least one train for a while! Sorry if I'm duplicating a post, however.

Oh god they get on my nerves, it usually:
''Metro safety announcemnt, please do not hold train doors open, its dangerous, causes delays and can lead to a fine of £1000'' or ''Please hold the handrail of escalators, if you have a pushchair, luggage or a wheelchair please use lifts''. They normally play about two or three times!

A year or two ago the announcements on Monument platform 4 were constantly repeating themselves. Not sure how long it went on, but they used to go "The train standing at platform 4 is for St James" about five times while the train was waiting to leave.
