Kingsleys
Hi

I today noticed an ex - Lothian Dennis Trident (Plaxton V531 LSC or something very similar) operating for Kingsleys. No idea how long they have had it but I haven't seen it before just used to the ex Stagecoach ALX 400 Tridents.

I admire Kingsleys as you can see (for a small operator) how they have evolved and got newer buses for the school journeys etc (shame though I have a big soft spot for Metrobuses).

Speaking of the Metrobuses, do Kingsleys have any left and do they still have the ex GNE Deltas?

Sadly, Kingsleys have no Metrobuses of Deltas left Sad - There fleet is made up mainly of Tridents and 2 MCV Evolution's.

As I predicted, there was an odd allocation on the Ferry Replacement bus service yesterday - see photo of 243 in action here.

Meanwhile, Kingsleys drivers are getting a little sick of me no doubt, as I keep photographing the same drivers over and over: 241 and 245 worked the emergency replacement bus service for the Metro this afternoon.

Perfect for school trips, you don't want the little sods wrecking a new bus.

Mind, I'd guess London is out of the question as

A) It probably wouldn't make it
B) It'd probably fail the LEZ quota and be charged £4million just to enter
RE: Kingsleys
Just another observation from some early morning adventures (not sure if it has been noted previously)- the green Kingsleys Alx400 hasn't had its rear destination blind changed since it moved North.

Didn't notice any other displays, but at the back it was showing 'DLR'.

Kingsleys Coaches have acquired two new ALX400s from Blu Val, Manchester. The registration numbers are T89KLD and T206CLO. They are not yet in service, but it is suggested that they will be from next year.

238 has also been noted with flipdots, in addition to 251 as pictured above.

Very, very interesting Big Grin

Probably use a Evolution to operate that.

They only have two Evolutions, both of which are currently used on scholars afaik.
106 is certainly still used on a daily basis, so I can't see why 104 wouldn't be anymore.

If anything, 182 would probably be used (providing allocations don't change).

Was up for tender as Euro3 which the Dart wouldn't meet. Reduced from Euro4 originally, possibly to get a cheaper price? Could it possible Kingsleys have bidded with a non-confirming timetable operating deckers in between school contracts?

Unless they have a new vehicle or two up their sleeve?

(14 Feb 2014, 2:08 am)GMitchelhill wrote Lothian buses did tweak some of their SPDs to improve their emmissions. I don't know if all of theirs SPDs attained at least Euro 3. Also there isn't really anything stopping him from using the Evos on the 33.

The Y-reg ones weren't touched by Lothian as far as I know. Certainly remember having a conversation with Stuart Monty when I was hunting down 192 about them only being Euro 2.

The only thing which is stopping them using the Evos is current allocations - both are required morning and afternoon for the same two scholars each and every day. Same drivers too, etc.

Lovely driver on 106. She's very pleasant.
RE: Kingsleys
Is this Service 33 supposed be competition for the X40, As noticed Hollywood Avenue is in Gosforth, or is it a Nexus Contract and I must say it's Great to see Kingsley's operating a proper Bus Service rather than Scholars/Works Services and Coach Hire, Hopefully they will get some more Services.
