It would possibly relieve the pressure on the 56 and 57 if people stood at all the bus stops on Old Durham Road had another option. People pile on the 56 and 57 because services like the 28 have already been past and don't stop, so they've got psuedo-express services like the 28 using the road but not serving them.
This has been something that they've done on Old Durham Road on Chester based services for donkey's years. If the theory is that those 723 and 724 etc. managed to serve all of the stops on Durham Road with no real issues?
