Or did Peterlee thought it was too good to have a Poundland like Harrogate (think Harrogate has Poundworld but the point still stands).
it was in the newspapers as there used to be masses of them entering the shop at 3pm onwards and since their couldn't catch all of them and the profits were down, there decided to shut up instead.

, years ago Peterlee had all the crap buses, buses were either broken down or never ran, still remember when Arriva had service 215 which was allocated a metrorider and a mpd and usually only one bus ran every 2 hours between Wheatley Hill and Sunderland and when its was late it used to bypass oakerside, so usually the bus round oakerside used to turn up every 3 hours, used to get plenty of free single tickets 
, when service 212 ran on an allocated 2 buses, when there used to be a breakdown the bus that was left on only did station town to peterlee and not continue to Sunderland, passengers had to get off and wait for service 213,214.newer buses only arrived in the East Durham area when Arriva closed down operations in Peterlee.
Just wish GNE expanded a bit more down here.
