I've been for the past few years, including a year or two before I started taking photographs of buses, given my interest in cars (although don't photograph these as I do with buses now).
Last year, I felt that there wasn't a great deal present, so I went straight past on the bus (no doubt this was caused by the fact that Go North East didn't support the event by bringing a few vehicles). I'm glad I went this year, as, all in all, it seemed to be well-organised and there was quite a good variety of vehicles present (some I'd never / rarely seen at previous rallies, and the usual ones we see at most rallies). Go North East brought an Olympian to commemorate the fact that it's the last time one of these vehicles will go to a rally (whilst in service) as well as a Red Kite Volvo B9TL.
I wasn't close enough to see exactly what happened, but it appeared that Bazza was hit by another enthusiast, who had been provoking him prior. Bazza screamed very loudly (as if he had been hurt), and ran away to try and avoid this enthusiast. I didn't see him after that, so I'd expect he left the event to get away from this enthusiast completely. Don't care if he's on this forum or is friends with members of this forum - the enthusiast who provoked Bazza showed absolutely disgraceful behaviour, and he should have left Bazza alone after he was asked to do so. One of the reasons why I don't go to all of these events...
i left the event as the enthusiast was really horrible to me

I had a ride out on National YFY4M, Dart 33101, Bristol VR LFS296F, and Bristol VR H106. The highlight was the open topper, despite me inadvertently soaking people from the tree branches. I'd put a pretty long rant after the Seaburn Rally last year, as I didn't think it offered much, but I found this the complete opposite and it was certainly worth getting up for.
RE: The Bazza incident. What a disgusting way for people to go on! Andrew Todd (aw bugger I've just named him!) had came away from Bazza, and was ranting on about something he'd said. He then went storming back over there, despite the advice of his friends. Bazza had raised his voice and told him to back off or something, yet that Andrew started chasing him round and behind the buses - ffs this is a 33yr old guy we're talking about here! Andrew looked to have went at him behind them, and the next thing we heard was Bazza screaming like he'd been hit, and we didn't see anything else of him afterwards.
Also to the morons that were standing laughing at the whole thing. The lot of you should know better, and what you're laughing at is a lad with disabilities getting bullied. Scumbags.
rightly said he should be banned from future rallies

Bazza; regardless of whether or not you like or him or dislike him, most likely came to the event in hopes of just getting a few photos and keeping a low profile, yet a number of us saw the incident unfolding... It's not on.
been trying to keep a low profile for months away from things and i also agree it is not on

we have known each other since roughly 2012 but didnt really connect til ASDA thing
(31 Aug 2015, 3:43 pm)Dan wrote As aureolin and I discussed earlier; I think a lot of people view Bazza with rose-tinted glasses, and form their opinions based on hear-say and past incidents. Just because there have been incidents in the past doesn't mean to say that Bazza can't ever be the victim, and this is proven by today's incident in which he did appear to be the victim.
