OK, back to the live tracking, here we go with an example of a phantom bus. It's just passed my house 10 minutes late (and it's non-sapphire, it turns out, so that looks like 3 odd workings on this route, this afternoon, out of 6). The app and live maps insisted it was where it should be if it was running on time, as shown.
This happens every time a bus running in either direction is about 10 minutes late or more, which renders the tracking a bit useless for those times you really are wondering where TF your bus has got to. It seems that every tie an error is fixed (eg buses apparently running 100 minutes late, as was the case when the updated app was launched) they introduce another big flaw. The programmers have clearly made the point at which the timing data is deemed to be wrong far too short, so while the app is no longer reporting a bus to be over an hour late, it is deciding that it can't possibly be 10 minutes late, even on a 3 hour round trip.
