Go North East service 17 and Arriva North East service 52 to Cramlington stop a bit closer than those Arriva services. The bus stop is on Weetslade Road, just after you cross the A189. Sometimes it can be quicker getting the Arriva X7/X8 services to Burradon Road, depending on where you're coming from.
The quickest bus to Thornton's from Newcastle is service X20. The bus stop is 'opp South Side' - it's the first stop after you come off the A189, and it's easy to identify as it's the first stop after you cross the River Wansbeck. You can also get services 35/35A to here: you could get one of the expresses up to Morpeth from Newcastle and then services 35/35A from there. This takes longer, but would provide you with a bit more variety!
