Heres a history lesson for ya:
In the olden days way way back, before when boats were built with metal, there used to be wooden ships that used to arrive at Hartlepool coming from overseas from asia etc..., and when there used to dock and offload there cargo there used to be loads of rats that used to run off the wooden boats, and the rats were a quite a big size (same size as normal cats) and the seaman tried to wack them with big sticks but there couldn't catch them all, so this is why there nicknamed "Fast Cats". The late peter huntely was the one who named that route as Hartlepool was his boyhood town. if you look at the side of the fast cats bus then you noticed that there are pictures of cats and not safc players running.
Also when the mpds were painted in the light colour yellow and branded black cats for service 26/36, the black cats brand has no association with SAFC, but it is associated with Sunderland from the war, there used to be and there still some pillar boxes made of concrete on the hillsides in the sunderland region and the men who manned them were nicknamed the "Black cats".
