Is there an argument for 2 diagrams of the X9/X10 being ran from Peterlee? I imagine the 05:10 and 05:27 from Gateshead can't carry any passengers southbound and are more positioning runs for the peak northbounds from Middlesbrough.
If these first two departed from Peterlee instead, it would wipe out 50 miles based on two buses running from Riverside to Peterlee empty. I'm aware Peterlee is a low cost operation and Tyne Tees drivers (I think) are on an enhanced rate of pay but shifts could be organised so Peterlee drivers are taken off at the earliest opportunity and riverside drivers could have breaks in Peterlee.
This would also allow two later departures from Newcastle at 21:15 and 22:15 to match the later departures Middlesbrough currently gets and Newcastle doesn't.
l told the MD at GNE at the time when Arriva closed peterlee depot, that their should purchase the peterlee depot and take off the low cost unit for the depot, and have the X9/X10, peterlee locals (east durham buses at the time), X35, 60 and 61 services starting in the morning from peterlee and ending on the last journeys at peterlee and close Washington depot down and transfer the buses over to Deptford. I even sent an email to Arriva if there would consider negotiate a deal for the depot, and I got an email back from the management with details and also asked what my relation to GNE. But GNE just wanted to see what the fall out was for the bus services after the depot closed but Arriva ran the services from other depots in the region.
