Arriva 7491 Wrightbus bodied Volvo Rail Replacement Service 900 11:45. Newcastle Monument to Wallsend. Got the seat above the driver. Was photographed by IPad Man at Monument. Think I saw Davey and Dan P at Wallsend Bus Station. Visited Premier Mini Coaches and WB Kerr garage at Wallsend.
GNE 567 Dart North Tyne Links. Wallsend Old Town Hall to Wallsend Bus Station Service 80 12:27. Could not face walking back to Wallsend town centre in the freezing cold so jumped on this busy bus after visiting Kerr’s.
Stanley Travel Volvo NK03LJV Rail Replacement 900. Wallsend to Walkergate 12:51. Bus was very busy, never been on a Stanley Travel decker before, love the purple interior. Visited Blueline Taxis depot at Walkergate. Their 16 seat Transit has been re-registered 509BLT.
Stanley Travel Volvo NK03LHZ Rail Replacement 900. Walkergate to Byker 13:07. Visited TJ Taxis, Stanley Travel, Community Transport and Byker Community Trust premises at Byker. Three deckers at Stanley Travel garage. Oldish guy taking photos at Byker Metro.
Arriva 7446 Alexander bodied Volvo on the 900. Byker to Newcastle 13:39.Grabbed some lunch and went to the corner. Two young guys who I believe were deaf taking photos. Got fed up of standing in the cold and went to look for patient transport minibuses at the RVI.
Peter Hogg Optare Solo CN07KZR. Newcastle Haymarket to Newcastle Airport 15:00. Left late as driver waited for missing passenger. 6 passengers in total. Driver very friendly, passed a tub of sweets around for everyone to share. I’d love to see some of Arriva’s miserable drivers be kind like that! Good thrash along the motorway. Spotted Park & Fly buses at the airport.
GNE 8328 Optare Versa Newcastle Airport to Wideopen. Service 353 15:38, enjoyed this journey through the green belt despite the bad weather. Had not been on this section of the 353 service before. Decided to head back into town as weather worsening.
Arriva 7463, Alexander bodied DAF working the 15:57 service 43 Wideopen to Newcastle Haymarket. Last bus of the day, alighted near the church and walked home through the city centre. Journey spoilt by loud-mouthed pre-teens talking rubbish about being mortal drunk.
Was an OK day out, just cannot seem to get into the corner anymore though. Good to see so many enthusiasts out and about. Thanks for reading.
