For planning, I find the timetable issued by tfgm online are very clear and feature useful maps showing interchange points. Many paper copies are available on the vast racks in tfgm's travelshop by Piccadilly Gardens tram stop.
Only one or two at each stop from experience.
Queues can be a few deep.
