I don't think one could deny train reliability is worse than it used to be but lets not pretend it was always perfect back in the hay day because as with any transport system, it wasn't.
As for being late for work, I always allowed for extra time for my journey, fortunately I lived in the core part of the system so the few delays I did experience were more minimal than say if I lived on the outsider parts of the system but if you leave it tight then its harder to sympathise I'm afraid.
Hopefully the government will give approval for new trains and in 10 or so years time, the system will have a brand new fleet of metrocars, i am skeptical of it happening and definately skeptical it will happen before 2025 but we shall see.
