I think the problem as well is that Arriva don't have a 7/8 - 1 rule like GNE do in terms of spares although they do have spares.
If there were appropriate spares put aside for every 7 same type of buses, preventitive maintenance could be carried out at an early stage to prevent such issues occurring. Cummins aren't a bad engine at all but they need well looking after.
