Standard spec for them is usaually the 4.5L , 4 Cylinder ISBe which usually produces 185-210hp.
Will be to do with narrowing the product range, and concentrating marketing into one sole single-deck product being available in lots of length and options, making it quite attractive to buyers. The second gen E200 got pushed by ADL and the industry (i.e. 'Bus of Britain'), there was very little publicity for the E300 Mk2, with smaller operators tending to go for the E200. Plus for the difference of less than a metre you may as well bung it all in as one diverse product.
