In service on "Saltwell Park" services 53/54 today were 8339, 8340, 8342 and 8346.
8341 was spotted on road test ready for service tomorrow this afternoon, whilst 8344 spent the day at Gateshead Interchange for driver familiarisation purposes as well as waiting 'on standby'.
As a result, the vehicles previously used on "Saltwell Park" services 53/54 are cascading down to other services.
Optare Versa V1110/Optare Versas 8294-8302 are in the process of being repainted into a lilac base livery for use on "South Tyne" services 88/88A, which in turn allows the Cadets which are currently allocated to those services to be repainted into Go North East's corporate livery. 8247 and 8251 have been repainted into "Northern" livery so far, and 8250 has arrived at Saltmeadows depot and should have been prepared for its repaint into "Northern" livery on Monday.
These Cadets will be allocated to services M2/M3, enabling the remaining "Washington Street Shuttle" branded MPDs to be withdrawn. Recently repainted MPDs 566-569 will also transfer to Percy Main, so that MPDs 504, 505, 514 and 517 can be withdrawn from the fleet.
