It's a case of 'use it, or lose it' - maybe we should talk about Stagecoach's service reductions which have taken place in Sunderland, South Shields and Newcastle recently, and are alluded to crop up again on Teesside in the near future?
Go North East's service revisions next month won't have too much of an impact on overall PVRs, and in most cases, are actually quite positive. The changes in Washington aren't actually too drastic, and there's only a saving of one bus from the overall PVR I understand (which comes from the 86 being curtailed at Washington Galleries in lieu of operating to Barmston Court, which will instead be served by the revised 83 service on the same frequency as the current 86). Contrary to what you suggested when you first saw the registrations on VOSA, Go North East are not out to hit the single-ticket market. Through single/return tickets are still available as now, on the same routes, and this is highlighted on the timetable. Nobody is being forced to buy a day ticket.
There is no change to the overall PVR at Hexham. The only change is the transfer of the weekday operation of the 689 service from Stanley to Hexham - but this is a like-for-like swap, and just means that the MPD which would have otherwise been withdrawn next month (replaced by a full-size single-deck), will in fact remain in the fleet for a little longer. The changes here are largely offering better connections (X85 being extended to Newbrough), with services having more streamlined timetables.
The only real reduction in PVR is as a result of the X36 - but if it was used by enough people to cover the running costs, it wouldn't be withdrawn.
Does this mean that the Saturday operation of the 689 will stay at Stanley?

I believe there is interest from a buyer to preserve 4922.
5206 and 5207 will replace V-reg Volvo B7TL at Chester-le-Street - this relates to the conversion of the majority of boards on services 13/X25 from double-deck to single-deck earlier this year. Some boards remained as double-deck as they interworked with scholars services, whilst others remained as Volvo B7TL pending the availability of further Scania L94.
No, there has been a reduction of one spare vehicle at Chester-le-Street.
It is likely that there will be a further reduction of spare vehicles across the fleet, in line with the new financial year commencing, next month.
4922 and 4915 are expected to move a Independent once Withdrawn etc. I don't believe for preservation, More likely for contract's/Private Hire etc. Ive heard there's plan's for atleast one to gain Seatbelts.
