We are extending our Durham District fares zone to include Ferryhill, Chilton, Rushyford, Redworth, Sedgefield, Thornley, Wheatley Hill, Trimdon Village, Deaf Hill, Shadforth and Ludworth. This means big savings for customers in these places travelling wholly within the Durham District zone. For example, the price of a one-day ticket from Ferryhill to Durham will reduce from £7 to £6.50, while the cost of a weekly ticket will come down from £25 to £18.20.
At the same time, we are expanding our Peterlee zone to cover Haswell (Village and Plough), while the Bishop Auckland zone will extend to Redworth.
It's a shame that Wheatley hill is not part of the east Durham network .

From a customer point of view, the extension of the zones and subsequent decrease in price is to be applauded.
Particularly as competition is virtually non-existent in a number of those areas.
