I've been looking myself to see how improvements could be made to the level of service seen at Biddick Woods.
Not sure a return to the type of service seen with the X3/X4 a few years back, would be the answer though.
Once the road is opened up through Elba Park, I can see a quick fix being a re-routing of the 79 and have it service Elba Park and Biddick Woods, before heading back towards Shiney Row.
However, I'm not sure that would be the correct option.
The damage done by GNE services 'missing out/forgetting to head in' to the estate when it was first built, along with the initial shambles with the 37, has caused a lot of damage as residents perceive the service to be unreliable and now, infrequent.
Hardly the sort of thing which will get people out of their cars.
My own thoughts have involved having a 4 and 4A type service. One serving Shiney Row and Penshaw and the other serving Biddick Woods and then ommiting Shiney/Penshaw, operating via the Highway between Biddick Woods and Mount Pleasant.
