These DDs are a lot more modern than the ex-London buses, such as 52-plate Tridents and Wright bodied B7TLs , that are used on some scholars routes. They maybe used on normal routes as well as scholars, too.
The North East has a modern fleet, all things considered. There is no point sending older buses to depots just to 'mix it up', sure it would be nice to get a double decker every now and then, especially to give passengers breathing space, but you look at the likes of the 58 and the decker on their barely has anyone upstairs.
