If I'm allowed to interrupt this conversation, I'd like to chime in and say that I'm roughly 6' 7" - so naturally I don't fit in anywhere - but I find the difference between a 'normal' double decker and the new 'Low Height' E400s on the X30 (my local route) to be pretty brutal.
I've not gone so far as to wait up to 2 hours to get 6337, but I have been tempted...
So much so that I limit myself to the first row of forward-facing seats behind the stairs, because I'm so hunched up trying to walk on the upper deck that I lose all of my balance, and so I can't walk far at all down the length of the bus.
PSVAR regulations mandate that grabrails are a minimum of 1500 mm from the floor - has anybody ventured out with a tape measure on the E400s? Because the handles on the seats don't seem that high to me..? And even then, what happens when all of the aisle seats are occupied? You either reach out to grab the handle and you grab a handful of someone's shoulder; or, when you're my height, what happens is your wrists are angled in the wrong directions and you end up going arse-over-tit...
And most annoyingly, these forward-facing seats behind the stairwell have been removed on the new E400s, which have a different seat layout on the upper deck, much to my chagrin.
I wonder if there is any reason for this? Any reason at all?
