Edit: Maybe not actually it's £100 for a return on the train or £55 splitting it at York, ouch.
I actually looked at tickets for getting from Durham to Scarborough for the bus festival and (OK, it was Sunday) the bus was no slower than the train and a fraction of the cost with an explorer.
