I agree, but I suppose it depends what incentive is on offer. I think GNE will be doing even more than usual to minimise the amount of cancelled journeys on those four days, as of course it'll bring an extra level of scrutiny if resource is being used for this event whilst normal service work goes missing.

I don't think the full change procedure is invoked for special occasions/events, as I think they're generally exempt from the notice period too, but happy to be corrected on that!

GNE have regularly put extra services on for this event where other operators have largely failed. It's desperately needed, especially on the Friday and Saturday, where most buses come and go jam packed. Putting on and advertising extra services hopefully discourages people from taking the car, and lessens the congestion impact on the services they'd otherwise be running anyway.
