People from Blyth / South Beach don't all go to Cobalt and the 308 does the rest of the route cheaper and more frequently doesn't make sense and people from Wallsend use the 22. You're just inventing another 19 pretty much.I know what you mean about the 41, it would in theory only be a stop gap until BSIP implemented.
The 311 is the bus route that needs to go out of the lot.
The 311 however, if they dropped it now and just ran the 310 through Hadrian Park, that would only reduce the PVR by 2x vehicles based on a 20 minute frequency of both the 309 & 310 (just under 13%) unless the 309 went standalone and did whacky races meaning the PVR could be 13x (just under 19%).
However, until BSIP is implemented, any reduction in frequency to the 309/310/311 during the day could cripple GNE in North Tyneside as Arriva (along with their strongholds) would then dominate with GNE being seen as the 'oddball' infrequent operator that punters would just let pass in favour of the 306 & 308. If Arriva reduced frequency on the 306 & 308 (not that they will as proven in March's changes), they've still got their traditional strongholds to rely on. Other than High Farm & to some extent Battle Hill, GNE don't really have much else significant to rely on without competing tooth and nail.
By the way, my original suggestion wasn't a suggestion as such, but more a 'what if?' if you know what I mean
