The 311 however, if they dropped it now and just ran the 310 through Hadrian Park, that would only reduce the PVR by 2x vehicles based on a 20 minute frequency of both the 309 & 310 (just under 13%) unless the 309 went standalone and did whacky races meaning the PVR could be 13x (just under 19%).
However, until BSIP is implemented, any reduction in frequency to the 309/310/311 during the day could cripple GNE in North Tyneside as Arriva (along with their strongholds) would then dominate with GNE being seen as the 'oddball' infrequent operator that punters would just let pass in favour of the 306 & 308. If Arriva reduced frequency on the 306 & 308 (not that they will as proven in March's changes), they've still got their traditional strongholds to rely on. Other than High Farm & to some extent Battle Hill, GNE don't really have much else significant to rely on without competing tooth and nail.
By the way, my original suggestion wasn't a suggestion as such, but more a 'what if?' if you know what I mean. But it is a case of how long either operator are willing to hold out and who will be the first to crack and reduce frequency. In the past, I'd say Arriva but they're holding on and going by recent changes, I'd be inclined to say it would be GNE now the first to crack.
Yeah I know what you mean. I know this is never going to happen for obvious reasons but imo the best service to serve Hadrian Park would be the 22. Every 10 minutes is overkill to Cobalt so you could split them 20 / 20. One to Cobalt, one to Hadrian Park.
It then means you could possibly up the 309/310 back upto every 15 minutes both via High Farm and Battle Hill with the 306/308 both going via Station Road and the Coast Road
Would mean most the communities have a nice clean 7.5 minute service to all areas.
For the GNE ones though I'd probably do
309 - Every 15 minutes to Whitley Bay, every 30 minutes to Blyth
310 - Every 15 minutes to Silverlink, every 30 minutes via current route, every 30 minutes via 19 route until the tip then head through meadowell and rejoin the current route until North Shields every 15 minutes or so.
311 - Withdrawn
41 - Dropped to every 20 minutes all via Wiltshire Drive
SNE
22 - Every 20 minutes to Northumberland Park, 1 extended to Cramlington via 19 route hourly.
23 - Every 20 minutes to Hadrian Park
Nexus
19 - Withdrawn
Obviously it means working together though which won't even happen. Would sort most the Coast Road mess as they'd have their own corridors rather than the mismatch currently.
