According to the way Google has the information Peterlee bound journeys will do a full loop of the current 61 route via Woods Terrace, Knaresbrough Road, Station Estate, Webb Avenue, Truro Avenue back to Woods Terrace. Then via Church Lane & Station Road out of Murton to Easington Lane etc. And journeys from Peterlee go straight to the Terrace via Station Road & Church Lane then Knaresbrough Road, Station Estate, Webb Avenue, Truro Avenue to Woods Terrace. That is correct, it will serve the same bus stops a short time after already serving them once it has been around murton, think the problem is that it is only once an hour to peterlee so still has to serve the normal 61 route while serving murton, maybe they could have numbered it the......................62 and went through murton the same way as the 62 does now, murton estate is a funny lay out and there is probably no other way to make it work
Not only will you have 61 buses serving the same bus stops but some going to Peterlee some going to Sunderland, who in Easington Lane or South Hetton wants to spend 20+ minutes on a tour of Murton? DCC would have been better off funding the 62 route as it is now.
