The BSIP has come in since then though (or supposedly) which is supposed to be getting rid of duplicated services and the Q3 is the one of the worst in the North East for it.
In fairness, Stagecoach dropped that route there selves, can't remember the number off the top of my head. 13 I believe - but I could be wrong.
Every time i've seen the Q3 it seems busy, so there must be some justifaction for it.
Also the SNE service you were thinking of was the 34, 35A & 35B
