It would only add a few minutes to the 85 route and it may help bring back a few customers. The recently axed 23, funded by Nexus, went through the estate and it was popular. Or at least was popular until Gateshead Central Taxis started to run an unreliable service and poeple gave up using it.I hear you, im 29,and when growing up,i remember being able to get a bus virtually anywhere, but sadly i think those times are long gone
The old W4 used to pick up quite a few passengers in the estate. GNE in its wisdom scrapped this part of the route when bus services were "consolidated" in the 00s. Donwell also has a larger than average number of older residents so it will also be helpful to people who have mobility issues. It doesn't have to be every 85 that would serve the estate. Perhaps one per hour could run as the 85A and go through the estate.
