Those 38s to the docks were always part of the Peterlee Purples running boards, despite how ridiculous that was. That blonde bus was in Peterlee the other day, meanwhile there was a Peterlee Purples bus in North Tyneside and Chester-le-Street! Just all a bit of a mess really. I’ve always thought branding could work and was a nice touch. We’ve seen some pretty good (and some bad!) examples of it, but the way allocations are now, its a mess of colours with zero coordination. Problem is how do you go about rebranding everything, that’s a lot of paint, a lot of man hours etc.
Some of the Peterlee purples solos are surplus requirements now, hence some been shifted to Tyneside to withdraw the second hand solos and older solos, and also to Washington, the mothballed citarios and graphite solos were required due to unable to require spare parts, maintenance etc…. For the normal fleet
GNE shouldn’t of painted every single bus into pointless brands in the first place, it just diluted what GNE stood for , and there should of known it wouldn’t of worked from day one, most probably the the person who does the depot allocation must of got his highs from the same place where the person who thought of these brands up in the first place [emoji848]
