Following a further review, we have decided not to progress with our planned changes in full. However, to better meet customer demand and feedback received, the service will be re-routed and revised to operate between QE Hospital – Heworth – Bill Quay – Hebburn, this will re-introduce the direct link lost between Bill Quay and QE Hospital. The service will operate via Nursery Lane and Holly Hill between QE Hospital – Heworth and via A185, Brack Terrace, Victoria Road, Black Road between Heworth – Hebburn. Revised service 568 will replace service provision in the Lakes Estate and Marian Drive.
The new timetable will be effective from Sunday 23rd July 2023.

We recognise the link this service offer customers, however, the extremely low number of customers using these first and last trip on this service is not at a level that would justify their continued operation.
Therefore, following a further review, we have decided to progress with our planned changes in full.

During the consultation we received 1 response opposed to the proposed cancellation of the Monday – Friday 1715 941 trip from Team Valley. We accept that there are a small number of customers who benefit from the direct links currently offered by this trip. However, the high cost of providing this bespoke peak trip is no longer sustainable.
We have therefore decided to progress with our planned change. The Monday – Friday 1715 941 trip from Team Valley will be withdrawn following the last day of operation on Friday 21 July 2023.
R1
During the consultation we received 7 responses opposed and 1 response in support of our plans to cancel service R1. Several of those opposed highlighted the poor reliability of the service, with some suggesting that improved reliability would help to increase patronage. We accept that the reliability of this service has often fallen short of the standards that we expect and in recent weeks we have taken action to address this. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. However, the patronage data used to inform our analysis was taken from a period before the reliability issues started and despite a small level of opposition to our plans, the number of customers using this service is still not at a level that would justify continued operation.
We have therefore decided to progress our planned changes. Service R1 will be cancelled after the last day of operation on Saturday 22 July 2023.
R5
During the consultation we received 14 responses, each opposed to the proposed cancellation of service R5. Several respondents highlighted the poor reliability of the service, with some suggesting that improved reliability would help to increase patronage. We accept that the reliability of this service has often fallen short of the standards that we expect and in recent weeks. We have taken action to address this, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
In view of the consultation feedback received, we have decided NOT to progress our planned changes. Service R5 will continue to operate to the existing route/timetable. With effect from Monday 24 July 2023 service R5 will also be operated by a new contractor.
Nexus have decided to retain the 83A.
