The last bit pretty much, Newcastle is much much better than the Metrocentre nowadays and has everything it has there, unless your bored there's very little reason to go through nowadays. The X66 has had quite a frequency hit / capacity reduction at the other side of the water aswell really.
Every 7.5 minutes with a bendy bus to every 10 minutes with a Versa is a massive reduction.
Not to mention Arriva swapping Hexham, meant GNE could up the 10/10A/10B frequency between the two and it's just as quick really with the Consett routes on top, especially if you're Eldon Square / Haymarket based.
