They drive saloons every other day given the 57 allocation, and are fully familiarised on all vehicle types in training, so it won't be anything to do with that.
The roundabout in the town centre (I believe the one Rapidsnap mentions, but I'm not sure of where the Masonic Hall is!) is tight in a Solo, nevermind a conventional vehicle, so they were probably told to divert.
