I know if Arriva stopped the 44 at Regent Centre expecting us to swap on to the Metro I'd be straight back in the car.

If they extended the 49 journeys during rush hour to cover Gosforth and ran evening and Sunday journeys it would probably be less of an issue (there's a lot of use at those times, people like their beers), but I guess as you say maybe an x46 could work.

Is there any news of if GNE will continue to run the Q3 from Wallsend to Newcastle (I've missed it if they have). It will be a real shame to lose that Ouseburn and St Peters link from town.

The X47 and 49 are timetabled for the exact same time from Great Park to Newcastle, so the X47 will be quicker than the Q3 currently is and I imagine level with how quick the Q3 was pre-Jesmond diversion. 

It looks like they've tried to do the 49 as cheaply as possible after remembering that there are school kids who need to get between Gosforth and Great Park. Realistically it needs to be half hourly all day, with all journeys extending to Newcastle, and hourly on an evening and Sunday.
