Almost ironic that the ironing board seats in modern trains are as good as Streetlite's so the trend has kept up.
The Optare Delta / Scania N113's are more like the Class 156 imo. The last of the old, let's say but much better than the crap that preceded them.
Maybe it's because they appeared around the same time, were a step change in what had been before - thinking the tinted windows, angles to bodywork etc.
I remember thinking the carpet backed seats on the Deltas were a step up as well.
I'd have ridden them both in and around the same time too (91/92) so must have seen enough at the time to make me think like that.
